About me
Hi! I’m Beth Tacular, a massage therapist working from my private studio just north of downtown Durham. I got into bodywork to help people suffering with chronic pain or stress, to help soothe the tension we all hold in our bodies from the strains of living in today’s hyper sped-up and isolating culture. Our bodies are doing so much for us, and they hold in their tissues the memory of everything we go through in our lives. Our bodies need care and support in their healing.
I love helping people return safely to an experience of embodiment, and to a feeling of more ease and comfort in their bodies and minds. I make an effort to really hear where you are coming from, so that we can collaborate to give you the treatment that would best serve your needs in the moment you arrive on the table.
My style is both intuitive and evidence-based, and I love providing an experience of grounding relaxation and stress relief as much as I love working deep into the tissues to relieve your pain.
I love to welcome BIPOC and fellow 2S-LGBTQIA people to my practice, and I am body neutral/ fat positive/ disability justice oriented. I make extra time for our first intake session, because I know how important it is to be able to share your story with your healthcare providers, so they understand the full picture.
I became certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) in order to help people heal better from gender affirming surgeries, but I have since become obsessed with the lymphatic system and all the many uses for MLD. As a long term sufferer of chronic pain, I have found relief time and again through Swedish, deep tissue massage and lymphatic drainage, and I feel incredibly grateful to be able to provide a similar experience for others.
When I’m not doing massage, I am hanging out with my wonderful ten year old child, making art, walking around the neighborhood or swimming in the river, organizing for social justice, going dancing, or spending time with those I love.
